Unlike traditional on-site BAS servers that require significant upfront investment and ongoing maintenance, Conexus’s hosted solution offers mobile-friendly access to trends, alarms, histories, and system graphics—all accessible via the Google Chrome browser on any device, with no plugins or specialized applications needed. The solution includes built-in software maintenance and regular updates, helping clients avoid costly upgrades and server replacements.

The Challenge
Members 1st faced a common but complex issue: managing and monitoring building systems across a wide geographic area. Their facilities team found it difficult to efficiently oversee operations across dozens of locations, especially with limited on-site staff and growing system demands.
Security added another layer of complexity. As a financial institution, Members 1st could not risk exposing sensitive operational data by running building automation on the same network used for their core banking operations. They needed a solution that would provide robust data security, operational transparency, and flexibility—all without disrupting daily operations or requiring heavy investment in IT infrastructure.
The Solution
Having already earned the client’s trust by successfully implementing and supporting the BAS at Members 1st’s headquarters, Conexus was the natural choice for expanding the system to the branches.
To address both the geographic and security challenges, Conexus rolled out a Distech BAS integrated with secure hardware VPN devices at each branch location. This setup allowed each site to connect securely to the Conexus cloud without touching the client’s business network, preserving both physical and cybersecurity standards.
The project was executed incrementally from 2021 to 2024 to align with the client’s budget and operational needs. Despite the phased approach, Conexus ensured that every site went live on schedule and budget.
The Result
Today, Members 1st enjoys centralized control of all branch systems through a single, secure interface—without the burden of managing servers or worrying about outdated software. The entire project was completed within the $150,000–$200,000 range, with additional value delivered through a long-term subscription-based agreement that includes hosting, maintenance, and monitoring.
The outcome? A secure, scalable BAS that empowers Members 1st to operate more efficiently while staying focused on what matters most: serving their members.
